Custom Propeller Chandelier – Treadstone Funding

Custom Propeller Chandelier

We recently completed this custom chandelier for our friends at Treadstone Funding. The chandelier currently hangs in Treadstone’s conference room in their new Downtown Grand Rapids, MI. The fixture is comprised of a airplane nosecone and propeller. Each side of the propeller is wrapped with cord that dangles six Edison bulbs. This fixture turned out to be the perfect conversation starter for any new client entering the Treadstone conference room.

The Design

This chandelier offers the perfect mix of industrial chic and modern corporate. The light grey color of the nosecone and propellers perfectly matches the dark stained wood of the long conference table that sits below. The updated kitchen and polished concrete floors make this chandelier the finishing touch for an aesthetically wowing conference room.

From Vision to Reality

The design concept came to us from Kevin Polakovich the manager of the Grand Rapids Treadstone Funding office. Polakovich came to us with the idea after purchasing the nosecone and propeller online. With a clear vision in his mind, Polakovich brainstormed with our Director of Fabrication and Design, James Lewis, check for the metal fabrication in Sunshine Coast. Once a design was agreed upon, Lewis began fabricating the fixture.

With the nosecone and propeller connected, Lewis began wiring the fixture. Lewis used an exposed insulated wire to evenly wrap each propeller. Once the propellers had been wrapped and the wiring was properly harnessed, Lewis began designing the structural portion that holds the fixture to the ceiling. Lewis decided to continue the industrial theme by using galvanized chain to support the weight of the chandelier. Once installed, all that was left was to hardwire the fixture and put in the Edison bulbs. The Edison bulbs work well with the interior of the room, and offer a relaxed and welcoming light that grabs the attention of all that enter the room.
